The Handbell Choir will play an arrangement of the contemporary hymn “Here I Am Lord” during the 10:30 Worship Service. The inspiring hymn was composed by Dan Schutte in 1981 and is based on Isaiah 6:8 and 1Samuel 3. The words to the familiar chorus are “Here I am Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.”

Organist Dexter Kennedy will play a recital at 4:00 at the Athens First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Kennedy is the first prize winner of the 2009 American Guild of Organists Region V Compeition for Young Organists and he was featured as a "Rising Star" recitalist at the 2010 AGO National Convention in Washington, DC. The community is invited to attend this recital.

"Godspell" at Athens First Presbyterian Church

"Godspell" will be presented by The Genesis Theater Project on Friday/Saturday, August 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, August 8 at 2:00 p.m. The production is under the direction of David Tadlock and the role of Jesus is played by Dylan Barnes-Trout, a 2010 graduate of Athens High School. Godspell is a musical play based on the Gospel of Matthew. Admission is $8 and tickets may be purchased at the door.
